i dont know but this is a realy nice one

Well... it is a Saxatilis group pike (which makes it a pain to ID) and its a female. I'm thinkin its C. frenata or it might even be Crenicichla saxatilis but I'm not sure. More pics couldn't hurt (you said you had two, it would be nice to see them both)

maybe peanut will help you on this one:popcorn:

oh, ok, i have three actually, il post some pics soon. so the one with the pink belly is the female? howbout males do they have pink bellies as well? howbout finnage will it tell the sex of these species? the female here has long finnage, very nice, but i have a small one, not much color and short fins, also very small compared to this female. the third one is about 4 inches and resembles my female shown above. anyhow will post pics soon.

here are more pics of my two other pikes. still not exactly sure what species they are..
this ones about 4 inches, most probably another female

nice ones, gl on havein a breeding pr

I was gonna say either Crenicichla anthurus or Crenicichla proteus....looks more like anthurus though. Hate IDing Saxatilis pikes...haha. Top one is def. a female though!! Very very intense colors. Crisp red belly, spot or dark band in the dorsal, female all the way. Males won't have the spot/band...or the red belly. Should have more spangling as it matures as well, and be larger...;). Awesome pikes all the way! Not many people keep Saxatilis pikes any more, tis a shame cuz they are awesome fish! Much easier to breed as well!!

Yeah, I think it is C. anthurus, now that I look in to it a little more. C .proteus lacks the outline of the humeral blotch, so I don't think that is it. Damn saxatilis group.:swear:
