Picked this up at the LFS labeled as "pike" for $14. It's about 3-4 inches. Anyone have any idea what species it is? I'm thinking maybe Crenicichla acutirostris?

It looks a little washed out, but its definately not acutirostris, especially for those prices, in Washington. I used to live there, and they seldom got anything else than sp. 'xingu I', lucius, sveni, and belly crawler. They occassionally got sp. 'venezuela' as well. Your pike is definately a Saxatilis pike, as it has may of the characteristics of one, namely the protruding lower jaw...;)

I wanna say its either a young lucius, young alta or a young anthurus though. Most likely lucius though! Gorgous as adults! Congrats! At such a small size though, it makes it quite abit more difficult to ID. I really hate IDing Saxatilis pikes though...pain in the butt!! haha.
