i have a basically empty 60 gallon i think, its 48l x 16w x 20h.
i have just started to look at pike cichlids and i am looking for ideas and input don't know what i could get ordered this is all just what if.

You could get a Compressiceps Pike (Crenicichla Compressiceps) They don't get too big and they are beautiful fish. =D

Yeah, I'd go with some of the dwarf pikes. My problem right now is looking for small pikes to fit in smaller tanks, because I don't have a large tank to devote to the pikes I want (lents or marms). :D

Your best bet is a group of C. Regani variant or one of the smaller Saxatlis types, like C. Sveni, just be prepared to rehome or sacrifice in the name of pair bonding . . .

C. Compressiceps is a small pike, but, they have a huge personality, a 60 is likely only gonna keep a single in the end, they are nasty little monsters with each other!

Yep, 6 quickly dwindled down to 1 in a planted 50g. Maybe if you created a more natural biotope for them it may reduce aggression. IIRC there found in rapids.

Thanks for the ideas.
i wanted to get a larger species but i have no experience with pikes.
the kind i was looking at was Crenicichla sp. "Cobra" but not sure its final size.
i'm looking at larger species because i don't mind a single fish and i have a 300 g cichlid tank with fish like rd, gt, jd, texas and i would maybe move it into there when larger but once again not sure how they do with tank mates

If you can move them up to a 300g when they outgrow the 60g, then definitely look at some of the larger lugubris pikes. They're all very nice.

If you're looking for something to live permanently in the 60g, then you'll need to look for a dwarf species.
