Could I fit a pike in a 29 gal

You could house a juvi lugubris in there for a few but you will need a bigger tank after a few months.

Both of these buggas speak the truth. If you want a long term pike though, go with either dwarfs or a single Saxatilis pike. They will stay smaller and look better. You won't be able to keep much with the Saxatilis pike, but you could have pretty much a whole community if you did the dwarfs. A couple of dwarfs available are Crenicichla regani and Crenicichla compressiceps. Those are just a few of the ones available!

A lug would def be stunted with ease.

I basically saw it with my bro's oranges. he had 2 psychos in a 30 that didnt seem to grow, he let 1 get killed and put the other in the 125, its a growin machine now...
