I went over to a (New Favorite) LFS I haven't been to in like 4 years, where I got my last Pike (RIP buddy, lost him after a move) in hopes they'd have some. I couldn't believe it they had everything BUT Pikes. I was bummed but then I made one more pass and saw a pair of them I missed the first time around. I quickly had one of them bagged up. It was $10 and he/she is around 4" and VERY fat. It's in my 75g now to grow out and will go in a 6ft tank once I find one for a good deal. Tank mates that matter are a 4" Jewel Cichlid, 4" Oscar, 2.5" Convict, and some various Algae eaters. There are mollys/platys in there too but they are coming out shortly once my 50g cycles. The Rosys you see in the pic are feeders, hopefully they get eaten soon once the Oscar/Pike grow. I've had them for months as they were for my Aro that I lost due to a C02 accident and PH crash. Anyway, here are some photos of my new Pike. It was labeled "Red Pike" but I doubt thats right, anyone want to take a stab at ID'ing it? I didn't care what kind I was just happy to have one.

Johanna's are usually sold as red pikes at least around here, and yours does show that group's juvy colors. I thought johanna's centerline was thicker though, but am not great at identifing the big boys yet. Deffinately in the lugubis group though.

Yes, definitely a Venezuela Pike. The one I had was the fastest growing fish I have had. It will be a great addition to a 6 ft. tank once it outgrows the 75.

congrats
