Hi my pike (SVENI 7") scraped against gravel a few times in a row about maybe once a day. is this normal? thanks

Not normally...it shows that there is either something wrong with the water, or there is some sort of parasite.

Do a 50% water change, then when you put the water back in add 1 tablespoon of AQUARIUM salt for every 10gal. of water in the tank. Keep that up for about a week and things should start to improve. Only add the salt when you do a water change though....;)...or you'll continue to increase the salinity...

i concur with Peanut. I would do the water changes with the salt but watch him carefully. If there is a parasite or something wrong with the water you want to catch it as early as possible. Check your water parameters ASAP to ensure the quality is good.

Concur...hahaha...classic. Pikes are known for scratchin, sometimes they will do it and it appears there is nothing wrong. Haven't quite figured out what causes it directly, but doing that is a safe-guard just in case, and most of the time it will stop...;)

My cobra pike has been doing this for 6-7 months now since she was only a little skinny 4" girl. She is now about 8-9 inches and super fat. She was kept previously with rays who flourished and I know water quality is not the issue. I would assume any type of internal parasite would have killed her by now. It almost seems like a territorial thing. Sometimes when my channa is poking his head out of his decoration and looks like he wants to come out the pike will go over to the opening and duck her side down and rub right next to his opening. I would do what the others have advised and good luck...

Hate to bring up an older thread, but I have noticed my pike doing this alot as well. I am taking it as territorial pissings, since it only does it when the GT enters it's "area". And right afterward, the GT will go and seemingly mark it's "area"....Which is about 1/5 the size of the pikes:)
