Just wondering if there is a "seasonality" on availability of pikes? It seems like every 2-3 months, a new pike becomes available, and its the only one available until the next one pops up. Right now venezuelan's seem to be predominant, where the previous one was lepidota. Is this how it usually is in the pike availability market?

i usually only see sax type pikes

I think that it depends more on which species you are after rather than a generalization of all of them.

I don't see that pattern. However i have a hard time finding much of any pikes in the tri-state area.

Shark A Has loads of pikes.

Sorry, I should have specified at LFS'. The online vendors here tend to have a much better selection year round. But at the few lfs' in my area that even carry pikes, they seem to be very seasonal, with the same pikes not being available year-round for some reason.

in terms of locally, other than venezuela and belly crawler (or similar) most others aren't common with much regularity.

Dwarf pikes deffinately seem to have a set 'season' ... it makes sense that you usually see pikes once a year though. Most are wild caught during the collection season, not all the countries export year 'round.
