pike size ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
venezualian strigata and Xingu I get monsterous

I know that Cincta get 20+ inches and I am sure there are a few others.
But the blue tinted Cinctas are really nice.
I don't think Xingus get quite that large usually around 12-14 inches.
At least the Xingu I.

Yeah, I was looking for pikes that get big too and got Spilorhyncus' 2 Cincta females. I will be upgrading them to something 300+ and they will be living with PBass.

They are supposedly somewhat hard to find, and there are 3 basic color variants: Blue, green, and red. The 2 I picked up are the red variety.

In my search for big pikes, it looked like the Cinctas were about the biggest. They really have a good temperament (so far) going by my 2.

If you want to see them, there is a thread in this forum called "Two Cinctas" that was started by Spilorhyncus.

Good luck with whatever you get.

Go cincta for sure.

   Crenicichla cincta can be some of the worst pikes....just depends on the fish i guess...;)

Crenicichla lenticulata, Crenicichla marmorata, Crenicichla tigrina, Crenicichla strigata, and Crenicichla cincta are some of the more colorful 'beasts' of pikes available. Less attractive, but definately larger growing, would be Crenicichla sp. 'venezuela'...;)

i bout picked up a venezuela by accident once....good thing i went with a bichir instead during that visit.
