Has anyone kept their pikes with more peaceful southern cichlids? I have a 150g holding a johanna along with a silver dat and some delhezi bichirs and was wondering if they would be too much for a Chocolate Cichlid to handle

Chocolates can be surprisingly tough sometimes, they don't tend to take much gruff from other fish. There are plenty of stories out there of them finally snapping and tearing an oscar a new one. I think a chocolate could handle the pike, as long as the pike wasn't overly aggressive.

They should be fine with johanna, I've kept them with lents, marms, sp. 'xingu I' and sp. 'xingu II' without too horribly much troubles. ;)

You should look into Hoplarchus psittacus though if you are looking for a unique cichlid to go with your pikes. They definitely can hold their own, and are just a tad bit more colorful in my opinion. ;)
