sight fish them in the spring...use x-raps and large inline spinners...if that don't work use large shinners/suckers
depending on where your fishing structure wise, big spinner baits and blade baits are the go to spring lures.
yeah i have always heard that x-wraps is the way to go with pike, honestly i have my best luck with the $1 walmart spinners in yellow and white.
they spawn in the spring, most the tim,e when there is still ice on the lake. Everyone uses bright, ugly looking patterns for pike but to really catch the big ones go as natural as possible in high fished areas
(whether its fished hard now or later makes no difference if its fished hard) the only time big pike are fooled regularly by these bight patterns is in the remote areas. But on the average lake with lots of houses and people go for the gold, silver, black, dark green, the more natural bait fish, forage looking patterns for the big northerns.
