anything atabapo (incl. Rio Atabapo lents) seem to be slightly more delicate & prone to the dreaded HITH - then other pikes are. ALL pikes need decent water & diet to thrive, the less stress the better. Some fish are not as hardy as others of the same species.
Get the lepidota if you like it better! Some of them have nice colors/markings....
lepidota is the first pike i ever had like ten years ago i remeber i was not the alpha of the tank but once i put food and and his instincts took over all fish ducked and hid...i had a type of lent that i have never seen again and it was the most hardy pike i ever owned.the speckles were only on the lower jaw!!!
I've got a trio of them for sale, but they aren't adults (the male is close, at ~6 inches, and appears ready to breed). Unfortunately I'm not able to ship though.
