I recently bought 2 juvenile sveni pikes and one has become super dominant and will chase the other any time he see's him. Now the subdominant one just hangs out under my power filter and hides. Is this the begining of the end for him, sould I just give him to my friend and save him or wait and see.

Sounds like it is...the dominant pike will either stress out the subdominant one til it dies or will tear it up so that i cant swim..this happened to me. I gave the subdominant one hiding places but never got food because anytime it would try to come out it would get attacked. The the dominant one just started tearing all the fins off so they had to be separated....btw welcome to the site!!!

yup, get those guys seperated. It will only be a matter of time before the smaller one looses.

Definately. If you are going to try and keep any type of pike together, first get a large group of them, the larger the better. Generally 3 or more helps out. The added number of pikes will help to break up the direct aggression on any one fish. Plus it will help increase your chances of them pairin up naturally. Once they become a pair you'll have to remove the other pikes for the obvious reason that they will get the snot beat outa them. Indeed welcome to the site! And congrats on the pikes! Crenicichla sveni are AWESOME! ;)

There is good advice being given. I have a johanna and a venezuela pike that absolutely hate each other. The venezuela is uber aggressive and attacks anything in the tank. The only way I am able to keep them together is by having several different cichlids in the mix. That way the johanna is never singled out by the venezuela. I think I'll put the venezuela in my new 220g just to keep them apart anyway.
