I got a really close look at my ven. pike tonight and i realizeds that he had 2 holes on either side of his head located behind and stightly above his eyes. They kind of look like ear holes. Just wanted to make sure this is normal. Can pike get hole in the head? I feed him mainly frozen krill and silversides.

Yup, its HITH, pikes get it like crazy if you don't watch over them. HIGH water quality and as varied a diet as possible is the key. Also a UV Sterilizer helps wonders! My new pikes that I got have HITH. I've had them almost a month now, and finally its startin to go away. Lots of waterchanges (I've been doing 25% water changes every day for the past month), varied diet, and LOTS of TLC will help pull them around. I also add Melafix and Pimafix. Helps promote tissue regrowth and fights infections...
. Generally if you just feed your pike goldfish, and don't keep up on water changes you will have HITH. Some pikes though its really hard to keep them away from HITH...but stay viligant.
