Does anyone have experiance feeding there fish Pile Worms? I have been catching or digging them up near my house in the Bay and my Arowana Loves them. Just want to make sure they are safe? Don't know why they wouldn't be and they are free. Let me know what you think!

Nasty? Its not for me to eat, for the fish??? I've seen them eat dead birds, that's nasty!

I personally do not know about pile worms (never heard of them before) HOWEVER i figure i might as well say this since i know someone else will if i don't, When feeding wild animals, to your fish you will always run the risk of transferring parasites and diseases.

Usually a safe thing if it is a saltwater creature being fed to freshwater one such as in this case. The things look disgusting but they cant be any worse than any other sea life that eats crap like shrimp, crabs, clams, mussels, oysters. Yuk! Oh wait those are the things I eat...

They should be fine. On the east coast we call them sand worms, great spring time striper bait. Becarful they can give you a nasty bite.

@ Tom, yeah It started because I had a few left over from fishing! I don't see why farm raised shrimp or any other would be any safer?

I shouldn't have seen The Thing, and then looked at your pic.

Felt my stomach turning upside down.

but hey, if your fish can handle it, and if you know the location is pollution free, I don't see why not.
