behind my iMac.... Southampton UK.
hey guys, last night i noticed my pictus and redline snakeheads where all slimed up, this morning my pictus was dead and snakeheads appear to have lacerations? parasite of some sort is my first guess so is pimafix safe for turtles? there are also two baby map turtles in the tank and i dont want any ill effect on them!
Thanks!

"slimmed up" sounds like a bacterial infection, as far as the laserations - how long have the turtles been with the others? Perhaps the turtles are hassling the stressed snakeheads.
Dont know about pimafix but ive used fungus cure with turtles.

nah turtles havn't touched the sakeheads, the laserations are in straitght lines, so not turtle bites, like pot holes in there skin...

Turtles produce an incredible amount of ammonia.

The fungal infection you are looking to treat, might be a secondary effect of poor water quality?

What size tank? Filtration? Ammonia, Nitrite?

Pimafix should be fine for turtles, it's all natural and should be safe for them.. I could be very wrong, I would check with the people who produce it.

I would just isolate the turtles in a rubbermaid tote and then treat the tank.. But I can almost guess the turtles messed up your bioload and an ammonia spike caused a fungal infection.

Turtles also can be couriers of many diseases.. The turtles, however, build immunities to these parasites and pathogens and will show no ill effects for the entirety of their life.. while tropical aquarium fish will have zero tolerances to these pathogens.

cant test my levels for three hours, test kits lock in housem8's room till then.... buts its a 98litre with standard jewel filter box and a fluval 2 plus filter too. temp is now raised to 84 and added some salt.

98L is like 25 gallons..

Not very much water to be working with for the bioload of 2 turtles.. at any size..

I can almost guarantee your fish health issues are directly related to poor water quality from the turtles.

yes presumably either that or cross infection from turtles, oh and turtles have been there for only three days...
so what is the recommended solution?

got a fluval 303 canister i could stuff wth bioballs and run on the tank?
