I've just finished treating my Tigers for gill flukes. Been advised to treat for bacterial infections which often occur after the bout.
Should I use Melafix or Pimafix? NTT does look a litlle fragile but has stopped scratching and flicking now..don't want secondary infection though
Thanks
Rob

Melafix only good for secondary infection/wounds and fins. For worms use kazuri dewormer.

Pimafix is for fungus

Dats appear to be extraordinarily sensitive to ammonia and presumably chloramines in the water. This sensitivity results in gill irritation and Dats will start flashing in an attempt to alleviate the discomfort. So, often they may not actually have gill flukes. Just thought you'd like to know. Nonethless, if you're treating for a parasitic infection and want to nail the secondary infection as well, I would recommend Jungle Labs Parasite Clear.

I'm aware of that thanks-this was definitely flukes. But thanks for your reply

Neither Pimafix or Melafix will treat against bacterial infections. Berserker, I would not start treating your fish with antibiotics or anything else. Just stick to your water changes for now and monitor closely for unusual symptoms. Using treatments for the wrong reasons will not help your fish at all and take note several antibiotics are lethal to fish to begin with when administered without a valid reason.

Interesting point-thanks. I thought about adding the Melafix as a booster to get them on their way again thats all.
