PImelodus Pictus

I have two pimelodus pictus cats that are about 3" and 2". They tend to either fight or mate im not sure which. Sometimes when they do this, i hear a sort of screeching sound coming from them. Ive heard of talking catfish, but im pretty sure thats a different fish. I was just wondering if anybody knew what this could be. Thanks.

I don't know exactly what it is but when I added a pictus to one of my tanks and it was in the net it was makeing a weird noise. So I know that they can make some kind of noise.

Like a lot of shoaling fish if a group is to small aggression appears, If you get a couple more it may resolve the issue.

i have 2 pictus cats they follow each other every where around the tank i havent seen any agression yet i only hear them make sounds when netted

you're actually not even supposed to net them because their sharp spines can get stuck in the net, i've seen some at pet stores with pieces of netting stuck to their fins

You can get a very fine mesh net that will avoid this problem. When working with these fish on a regular basis you learn quick to what works.

Most all catfish can make wierd noises, like squeaking and gurgling when they get irritated or something.

I had two pictus catfish at one time and they would fight, but when i added one more the fighting stopped and they began to get along.
