Thanks, I find them to be one of the most interesting Africans to keep.
They are considered to be one of the C.A.R.E.S species because the small size of lake Barombi mbo and in such a precarious position due to environmental pressures, much like Madagascar and its species.
I first kept them more than 10 yrs ago, and the adults get very prehistoric in appearance.
They were probably almost 2 years old, and at maximum size at the time of the pics, which is 7"-8".
The blotchy color is spawning dress, with the largest spawn about 15 fry, spit into a landing net, after holding 12-14 days.
