Just read online that a "great" way to prevent silver aros from getting DE is to float a ping pong ball in the tank. If I had to re-word this, I'd say it's a great way to kill a beautiful fish because it choked on a plastic ball that you put in there because you're an idiot. However, is there any truth in this? It just seems dumb to me.

i'm guessing the ball is supposed to prevent the arowana from looking down at the bottom of the tank 24/7, which is said to cause DE

assuming it is not eaten of course

I guess it would depend on what an individual believes is the cause of DE.

i've heard it doesn't work, i've also heard all the other methods don't work either. However, i don't own an aro, so take my words with a grain of salt.

It doesn't work. Although the best thing to do is to always feed from the top so the arowana will know that food is coming from there and not the bottom.
Also, they don't care that much for things that they can't eat.
I believe that the number one reason for DE is head injury and the second is heavy bottom feeding.

seems like a idea... i dunno if its a good one.. i dont know that the aro would bite it ... just keep feeding him top water food.. floating sticks, crickets... ect.
