First off i dont know where to put this, so mods move as you see fit. :)

The gf wants a betta and she wants a pink one...anyone know if there is any such thing? She is looking for something that is actually pink and not a fleshy color.
If we can find one it will have an actual tank with a filter, none of that tiny stagnant bowl stuff...
Thanks for any advice

leucistic or dyed, so yeah pretty much flesh color. might be able to find a brick red tho, blues are the best:headbang2

people dye fish? does it hurt them?

And i agree on the blues :) thats what i have

u wont get a 100% pure pink, not will u get a pink in any other variety than vt but will probably be able to find a Cambodian vt witch is nearly all pink... its guna take a lot of hunting thou! i took me three years to find my pure yellow and thats not even as rare as a pure pink would be if it exsists but knowing the variantcy in cambodians i would asume there are probly some pink ones out there....

and NO really blue fighters are soo five years ago... black, white yellow n mustard gas are the way forward... then marble and Cambodian variants!

www.deathbydyeing.org Yes ppl dye fish and most don't survive it. They dip the fish in like diluted acid or something to remove the slime then inject desired areas with colored dye. The fish usually dont livde more than a few weeks after and they look like crap: (Worse, it's 100% legal.)

My dept. recieves bettas almost every week. I have never seen a solid pink one, although I did get one in that was a bright fushia color with some purple and turquoise colors mixed in there. One of the most colorful bettas I have ever seen. Sold it to a little girl and her mom :) She wanted a pink fish lol. Might be able to find one like that somewhere :)

yeap, u just described the cambodian varriants i was on about, typically turquoise, purple n pinks marbled or patch through out tho i saw a purple that was near solid not to long back... i think the best way of finding a good one, is find a lfs that stock cambodian fighters, or rather whos suppliers send them cambodian as its more what they get sent... and keep visiting regually until u find one your gf likes.... its not something your goin to be able to aska lfs to order in even asking for cambodian fighters might get you funny loks of ur average lfs... you could try betta sellers in asia but you'll end up paying close to $100...
