I picked up 6 pink convict cichilds months ago when they where about 1/4" long. I have been doing lots of water changes on these little guys hoping I would end up with 2 pairs. About a month ago I started moving them around because some where growing faster than others.

Right now I have 3 tanks set up and each has a pair. Tank number 1 both are pink, tank 2 has a pink male and black striped female, tank 3 has a pink male and black striped female(these are the smallest two hoping they will keep growing before starting to spawn).

Tank 1 had eggs a few weeks ago but they ate them after 3 days, But this morning I saw them dancing around like they where going to spawn again so hoping they will in a few days.
Tank 2 had eggs on tuesday so they should hatch this weekend.

Here is a quick video of the tanks.

I know most people don't get excited about convicts breeding but I do they are very cool fish.

The reason people don't excited about them breeding is because they are very easy to breed. Add water and that's it. I like the pink cons though. The white and black com hopefully you get some marbled cons out of them

They were one of my first cichlids to breed over half my life ago and that is what kept me interested in cichlids after all these years.

Have fun with the spawns! What's in the plastic cups?

The plastic cup had a plant in it. I hoped it would help with the nitrates but once theyou started spawning in the cup the plant had to go. I left it because the female spent a lot of time there.

The new spawn found a different place for the eggs so the cup will come out this week.

Noticed last night that tank 2 has fry also. The eggs were gone after a few days and I wasn't sure if she moved them or ate them. After not seeing any fry for a week I assumed she ate them but turns out she was very good at hiding them. Her fry are a little bigger than those in tank 1 so guessing 2-3 days older. Lots of fry now

Picking up some more tanks tonight so I can start setting them up this weekend.
