I have a pair of pick convict cichlids that I bought 6 months back and before I moved they spawned twice and the eggs got eaten. Two days ago when I checked the tank I saw 2 baby fry and I fed them some flakes. Yesterday I checked back the tank and I see that their missing.

What should I do?

What should I do next time?

Do u have smth else with them? Convict parents don't usually eat their offspring and r very good parents. R they in a noisy and busy area and feel threatened and stressed? Is it possible that u have smth wrong with ur tank and the babies die? U could remove the eggs into another tank and raise them on ur own

Just give them time. They'll go at it again.

Next time, wait a bit before feeding the fry. They'll let you know when they're ready. You'll see them free swimming, chasing tiny particles, and pecking at plants/decorations/gravel. Then you can go the baby brine shrimp route, or crush a tiny bit of flake.

The other big clue is the parents fanning the substrate to stir up food. That's been a sure sign for me, though it tends to be a bit after the fry will actually start eating.

You should get them a little larger tank. At least a 20 long you can find them cheap.

I'd throw them in a 20L. Make sure the parents have a cave of some sort. Be sure your filter isn't sucking up your fry. I'd think that if you had any type of flow through divider in the 10 that the Fry could have been making it to the other side.

hey you can go to your locale petco they have a dollar a gallon sale on tanks up to 55gal , you might wanna check around the tank the parent convicts will hide the fry in the gravel or in and around decor, i had a pair that spawned in a spongebob house once they were free swimming the parents moved them to a clay pot with out me knowing i thought they died them when i went to clean the tank i saw them swimming in and around the pot
