Pink fx6 filter pads

So I bought a used fx6 for $75 yesterday. ...the owner said he had only used it for a few months...I could tell it wasn't used long....when I opened the fx6 I saw that the 6 white foam filter blocks were actually pink......all these pads barely looked used but I was curious as to if there is any chemical that could of caused this?....either way I don't know what has been in his tank.......but these pads barely looked used. ......should I just boil them ?

I'm thinking maybe he used chemi pure?

My lava rock caused mine to look and little pink/reddish

Mine are a light orange, can't remember if it came that way or just from use.

I have noticed the fluval ones are pure white and generic pads tend to be an orange brownish

It's normal. Mine went from white to pinkish after using for a couple of weeks

Mine changed to pink as well. Maybe from pellets.

I use NLS & my FX filter pads are pink . I'm not suggesting NLS causes this but i have heard of people blaming NLS for it, as if it's a problem.
