Where the gators are
so i moved my rtc from a 60 to a 35 so he wouldnt eat my bichir. its only temp. i filled 50% of it with tap and 50% with water from the tank he was in. Now he is pinkish. the bacl has lost color what is wrong here? i took the filter pad out of the old tank and put in inside the new. also took some bluegill out of the same tank and put them into the 35. And a water plant. I was thinking it was because of no Benifical Bac in the tank (it has a new filter)

Ph was low at aroun 6 dont know why but now its at around 7.7

temp is 80

stress zyme was added to the tank durring filling

Sounds like he has had a stressful time...I would say that is the cause

yeah i figure if hes not back to normal by the morning hes goin back into the other tank and those fish into this one

probably just stress... but make sure the water parameters stay good... and if ya just move him back you will just stress him more... as long as the tank water parameters stay good then don't move him again... and if the tank isn't then if you move him out i wouldn't move anything else into the other because it needs to cycle

Did all of his patterning go away over the course of a few days or was it an instant loss of color?

You don't mention dechlorinator. Did you actually dechlorinate the new water or just add that gill-clogging stress-zyme crud? Is your pH due to hardness or dissolved gas?

Yes i agree do not move him back right away let him settle and if you think it's best then move him back..only you can tell because u can see his colors changing from time to time..

the color change was instant. i tryed to set up my 2 FX5s to transfer water between my 60 and the 35. but they werent pumping at the same rate. hahaha 20 gallons all over the floor. so i put him back into the 60 and within a few hours his color was back. but hes not eating, thats expected though to much stress. the other fish in the 35 are doing fine though. i loaded it with plants today. really i just need the filter seeded before my 300+ is done.

yeah whenever i ad water i use a dechlorinator and the stress zyme.
again the other fish were fine but the cat is just too sensitive for that kind of move.

It's definately stress. Had the same thing happen. After about 2 days he'll come back to the same color. Is the tank on a stand or on the floor. If it's on the floor try not to walk up and stand right next to him other wise he gets spooked.
