Could one be kept for life in a 45 gallon bow front. I want to get some kind of fish for the top portion of my tank, but it seems like all the small fish like hatchet fish would get killed by one of my angelfish. Since pink tails are bigger could I house one in my tank for life? These guys are available at my lfs right now+ a 40% sale. They also have archer fish right now, but there are no freshwater archers at the moment.

Would tiger barbs work if in a large enough school? Or would they be fin nippers or get almost killed my by angelfish?

They are known to nip fins. Heard if group is large enough it will help making the Tiger Barbs focus on each other.

A group will keep them busy with each other. Best chance and make sure the angels are big.

My angels are 2 inches tall, not including fins. How many tiger barbs would I need to get if so?

Would wait and let them grow out. Tiger barbs will go after similar sized fish.

I'm partial to congo tetras, not nippy if you keep them fed, you can keep just a few, don't need a large school, nice looking, especially males with their fins. Not regionally correct to SA, but neither are barbs, danios, loaches, or quite a few other common fish. I've also kept emperor tetras with angels. Emperors more sensitive ime, but I like them also and didn't find them nippy if you keep them fed.
