Where Palm Trees Grow
I was browsing google and I saw a fish called a Pink Tail Chalceus and it looks really cool but the only place I saw one for sale was on That Fish Place and no one else has them so does anyone know where I could get one? Also would it be able to live in a 55g for life? With a Flagtail,Tat, and maybe some sort of catfish?

we have so many of these things where i live

Not for life but now you're starting to find some fish that will live for a while in that tank. Unfortunately this species (Chalceus macrolepidotus) is very claustrophobic and has a tendency to jump through the smallest of cracks in your lid. It prefers schools of 7 or more and is quite a site in a large aquarium because the school very tightly. Do you already have a flagtail? That fish will get 24" and about as tall as your 55.

I had two large 10inchers until the other day, they were kept in a 150us 5/2/2

I would have prefered them in a longer tank, jesh when they got spooked with they do quite easily they have some speed...

No I don't have the Flagtail yet, I was told it only reaches a foot but I guess the info was incorrect, But I just moved my tanks to my new house and got rid of all my stock and I'm going to go pickup a 6" Tat from my LFS next monday and I was trying to find some other cool Characin tankmates.

I bought 4 @ That Fish Place over a year ago, They are the common Red Tail Varients. From what I've read on this site in the past, Pink Tail varients are very uncommon and will have a pink line running the length of their body. They have got to be the one of the most suprising fish I've ever owned. They are cute, appear very passive, and skittish. However they have a seemingly unexpected darkside. They are aggressive fish esp. amongst themselves. Like I said I bought 4 - they killed 2 and ate them. They are carnivorous and will chew on anything that they can get in their mouths which is kinda unsual, most fish swallow whole, these guys chew and chew as a pack. They also aren't shy when it comes to stealing live food from other fishes mouths, I see it all the time. They mostly just hang right under the surface of the tank, but do use the whole tank when searching for food including things on the bottom. Something else I found suprising - they get kinda bulky, robust for their body sizes and shape - remind me alot of GATF in body mass without the obnoxious length, height, and teeth.

Sounds like my kind of fish. :naughty: I'll look into getting a few.
