Hi all, just on working out the tech bits on the tank. Let me say what it is.

Tank of 1300g with a Parallel sump of 220-300g sump. with a 5x turn over.
These figures are for 2 inch pipe work, now the sump first chamber will be around 16 foot away from the furthest bottom drain of the tank which will be 36 high/long, so full gravity flow for it, then the horizontal run to the filter will be the 16 foot run. as the vertical can flow at 2400gph and the horizontal will be 1500gph with an uplift to the sump being around 18 inch. so four of the 2 inch pipe work will take 7000g.

Would four 2 inch pipe work be enough or should i go to the 3 inch incase later i need to up the flow, then the pipe work will take the extra flow easier?

cant find any working for the 3 inch pipe work.

thanks for any help

It's really hard to say.
I have 3" pipe going around my fish room (work in progress) that goes to the drain for water change.
I don't have much slope on it, so I can really only drain one tank at a time (1" drain pipe). The vertical 1" drains pretty fast compared to the slight slope of the 3".
16 feet of horitzontal is a long way to go. It all depends on what slope you are able to get on it.

Is there any way possible to move the sump closer to the tank? I put my sump behind the stand (as opposed to under the stand). That works great.
If you are willing to live with a 16 foot run of pipe, it seems like you could handle the looks of a sump next to it? :)
