Hello everyone,

I am planning for my first piranha tank. I have a 110 gallon which I will get when I move to my new home in a month. I plan on putting two 5 inch oscars in it as well as introduce some piranhas. I was watching some youtube videos and noticed this really sweet fire eel. I'm not very familiar with these guys. Can you put these with Pirahnas, especially when they are introduced together at a young age. I would guess it should be fine.

So if anyone has experience with these eels please let me know...

Thanks

young p's are aggresive
id think about it before i do that
currently have 6 baby rbp's and they're nipping each others fins
i also have 2 tilipias both lost their tails
20 guppies all gone within 24 hours

not a good idea to put the oscars in with the pirahnas, they may end up as food. you should get atleast 5 pirahnas they do better when there in larger schools, but i wouldnt get more than 8 for a 110 gallon.

I agree with above. IMO and experience, it may take a long while but eventually piranha will kill every other thing its tank, unless it kills them first. Cichlids are the musculer tough guys bullying everbody around were as the Pirhana is the twitchy guy in the corner with a switch-blade. As I once heard it described Cichlids are more aggressive and they may be the one picking on the piranha, but eventually they'll lip lock ( which is how Cichlids fight) and when they do the cichlids lip will come off, then its downhill for the cichlid. The only cichlids that could deal with piranha are the biggest and meanest wolf, true red devil, ect and it would be becase they killed the piranha by brute streanght and size. I dont think Oscars would have any chance at all. If fire eel managed to live it would be because it hid really well, all the time, which would defeat the purpose of owning it. I've loved every piranha I've had, but they need their own tank.

That sounds like a food offering. I think a fire eel will be a bad idea with piranhas as well

You will hear of occasional success stories of keeping piranhas with an oscar or jack dempsey, but 99 times out of 100, it doesn't work. IMO, a fire eel would be toast.

I think no on the fire eel he will be lunch.
