Wanted to know what's a difference between a juvenile pacu and pirahna when they are like 1-2 inches. So how would you know whih one you have?
I know I'm in Cali but this is just a question.
1-2 inches you really can't tell. If they're both the common red-belly, then it'll be really hard to tell.
The difference that you MIGHT be able to see is their differences in their faces/jaws...
JayW is right, if you know the differences you can tell when they are an inch. A pirahna will have a huge underbite, as where a pacu has either equal upper and lower jaw or an overbite. Also pirahna have a vertical black stripe separating the body from the tail, as where a pacu's tail is clear at the transition. there are a few other things as well. I just found this previous thread on here http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...y-Red-Bellied-Pacu-from-a-Red-Bellied-Piranha . Ive seen better comparitive pics elswhere but this should help.
