Does anyone have any info on the Piraiba? I've googled and there is no real info on this fish other then catching one. I'm not interested in catching one or even owning one just wondering what this catfish really is. Like if there is another name it is known by/size/weight and so forth.

Ummm you might want to look a little harder on google...there is TONS of information about Piraiba. Brachyplatystoma Filamentosum is the scientific name, 300lbs+ in the wild and 8ft+. Much slower growth rate than other pimeloid species about 1" per month vs 2-4" a month for TSN/RTC/Planiceps. High oxygen environments in white water situations in some cases and can be found throughout alot of South America. Growing out one in my pond as we speak. Here are a couple older pics of mine, I don't have recent ones but it was 6" at that size and a picture of a Filhote or baby piraiba that was caught in Brazil. ~Trent
