WHY ARE THEY LEGAL IN SOME STATES AND NOT IN OTHERS.

For the most part, they're illegal in the states where they're survivability, intentional or unintentional, is a possibility. In states where they're survivability is low to none, it's a case of Big Brother deciding what's best for us.

They are illegal in several states because of the danger that piranhas can survive over the winter in that area and possibly form a large population and kill off all of the natural species of fish i have put in a few posts about snakheads this is the same with them we dont have this problem in the U.K as we only get 2 days sun in the year :naughty:

Thanks guys for the reponses

 Must be why no one there has a tan!

I know practically anything is illegal in FL ARGHHHHHHHH Most things here are illegal becuase people like to grow them up and when they cant fit their tanks anymore they throw them into the wild like the everglades or the st.johns river and then they thrive in our nice climate and grow large and start eating the native animals and then that causes a real problem becuase the population of the native animals goes down and this messes up everything in the eco system....... that or they just over populate. Here is a few examples burmese pythons are now seeming to become a new native snake to FL as they are populating in the everglades and attempting to eat alligators which are now fighting with them to be king of the everglades I guess you could say. Pirahana are b/c they eat everything and throw it off balance, Stingrays are for some natural off balance unless its a st.johns ray you can keep those b/c they are natives. Snakeheads becuase they eat anything, and Silver Aro's are looking to be next no thanks to the idiot who threw one in the St.Johns river and it grew to be over 4 feet.... and the people who caught it threw it back.
