Piranaha?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A 12" wide tank will be a tight fit for an adult piranaha. 6-8 juvies would be great in there, but you're going to want a bigger tank (75+ gallons) for your piranaha in the long term.

really depends on species of piranha and filter system and tank maintenince.. i have 9 in a 50 many people say its too many in a small tank.. i some what agree im looking to putting them in my 105.. you should be safe with 5 red bellys.. just remeber the more you have the more fighting you will have..

BTW - Good luck keeping plants with piranahas. Most will quickly become a snack.
Hiya booger, they don't really eat the plants, they just shred them, (I think they are trying to get you to put your hand in to fix things, heheh).
use cheap fast growing plants

Max 4 adult red bellies in a 55, doesn't mean they'll be happy about it, but they'll live with some swimming space.

As far as plants go, you can't go wrong with java moss, pretty much already shredded, fast growing and cheep. gives it an amazonianish look if you add some driftwood.

4 red bellies in a 55g is ok, they will have plenty of room. At one point it depends on the fish, not all fish behave the same way. I am for giving the fish space, but a 75g for 4 fish that get no larger than your hand, imo, is overkill. They always sick together in my tank, anyways hehe.
