Piranha Coloring

I've noticed that when I turn the light on first thing in the mornd my piranha's belly is white. However, when I get home from work, his belyyis red again. Whats up with that? Is my fish retarded??

I think that is their color when they woke up from sleep but after maybe 30 mins to 1 hour, their real color will be back to normal.

So this is something that is in fact normal? I just want to make sure he's not sick. As soon as I can get my camera working, I'll try to get some pictures up.

Its totally normal.

when the lights go off, the fish no longer needs like the coloration to camouflage itself like it does in the dayligh hours.

so it turns lighter in color.

no big deal.

open the lights and give them 30mins or so and their coloration will go back
