Here&There
I just added 5 RBPs to a tank containing one RBP that I have had for a while. Obviously, I am looking for any signs that things are not going well. I am wondering if the colors and tones they exhibit can be linked to any mood or level of aggression with any certainty. If they phase to dark gray does that indicate aggression? What about when they go pale? Are the meanings of these shifts dependant on the individual?

I think it's all individual as well as stress, genes, water condition, food, age, maturity/breeding, substrate, background color , etc etc.

I doubt anyone will post with a color key that says this color means X and this color means X. Not sure i'd believe them if they did anyways

Yeah I agree, fish like any other animals have an array of emotions which can affect their color, as well as all the other for mentioned conditions that would apply.

Yeah, I didn't think there was any table or graph. Just thought someone with more experience than me could share what they have witnessed. I think there is some relationship between their color and their mood. I guess it's just too inexact.

Maybe bruner can create some p's in his evil lab that change specific colors for specific reasons

i feel that a sudden color change in a fish has to mean something though

I don't doubt there's slight color changes but even in fish that are more noticeable with their color change nobody can tell you exactly why they changed.

^lol I think that sometimes also

The RBPs I got were quite pale when they were at the LFS and during transport. Now they've been in the tank for a couple days and have been dark gray the whole time. Some nipped fins, but I just chalk it up to establishing the pecking order. We read into color change/stability in Dats and some other fish, just wondering if the same holds true for Ps.
