Hi,

I have 1 Red Belly @ 5.5" 2.5 Years Old

(Size is because previous owner had the Piranha in a 30G tank)

I currently feed him.

Muscles, Shrimp (With shell) Every 3 Days.

The portions is roughly 2 Large Shrimps = 3 Meals.

His attitude about feeding is full of excitement.

Am I feeding him enough?
Is there anything else I should be feeding to vary the diet?

That's a very stunted P. I would try to feed him more often. Like every other day or whenever he'll eat. I have some RBPs that would dwarf him and they are like 8 months old. Hope you keep him beter.

I have only owned him for possibly 2.5 Months. Meaning the Previous owner has had him in a 30 US Gallon tank for 2 years basically.

With feedings being around 2 small shellless cooked shrimp a week.

I got him for free basically as a rescue and has easily become my favorite fish.

That's a very stunted P

I do feel sorry for him

ya my p's are taht size and only like 5 months...you can add silversides...and beef heart.. feed once a day..try that. i feed mine once a day...i have to or they get mad... lol

feeding more often will not make up for your p's stunted growth i would recommend feeding a random feeding schedual and a varied amount each time. I feed my p's anywhere from 1 4x1x1 cm strip of tilapia, red snaper, or catfish to 3 strips depending on the legnth of time between feedings. I usually feed every other day to every 5 days, p's eat when ever they can in the wild so i try to replicate that in my tank. Since you have a lone P you wont need to be concerned about fin nipping or anything like that.

I think tilapia was a very bad fish to feed Piranhas. I am probably wrong but I am sure I have read that in multiple sources

Adult P's don't have to eat very often, I fed mine weekly give or take a few days.
Just because a fish will always except food does not mean it is hungry.

P's fast in the wild, and do not eat daily.

He should be fine on that diet, maybe throw a couple of things in there for variety every couple of months.
