Ever since I downsized my population of 12 2 inch rbp's to 6 they wont eat as much. Also they have become very lazy, they wont go to the top for pellets and if I drop a fillet then they take a few nips and then it sits on the bottom. They arent gorging themselves anymore. Is this normal? Before I could get them to eat poop, now nothing???

Just go back to 12 and feed them poop. J/K. I'm no expert by any means but maybe now that there aren't so many fish they don't feel the need to make sure they get a share.

I could say they do feel safety and power in numbers. Large shoals are more likely to be more aggressive as a group. They could be rather confused and stressed.
Try a garlic extract. Always works for me. I promise they won't starve themselves.

How are your water parameters?

any changes in the tank, shoal size, decor, etc can cause them to change habbits or feel insecure. wait a few days should return to normal.
