im building a 180 gal tank , and will have 6 red belly piranha in it , im wondering what would be best for me . Im willing to pay a good amount , but dont want to go way over the top.

and it would be nice if it would take care of nitrate , so i wouldnt have to do weekly water changes.

any info is greatly appreciated.

THANKS MAN. VERY INSIGHTFUL.

What did you have in mind? You can take the approach o canister filters, hang on the back (hob) filtration, and my personal favorite, a sump or wet/dry. The wet/dry will provide room for additional filtration methods (that can remove nitrates!). There are some great threads in the DIY section that can point you in some very cool directions. In particular, Chompers has a DIY drawer filtration system, I forget the author, but there is a VERY long thread on algae turf scrubbers (nitrate removal), and you will also find a variety of threads to help you in your search.

I prefer a wet dry because you get the added flexibility of auto water top offs, algae scrubbers, and a variety of things you can hide from the rest of your tank.
