i have a single red belly piranha in a 5 gallon, and he is about the size of a DIME. when he gets about 2.5 or 3 inches i am gonna put him in my 55 gallon. how old are these dime sized piranha? how fast will these guys be until they are 2.5 or 3 inches? thanks

Hard to say... few months maybe, Wild/captive?

Not long, I’d consider moving it as long as there are no larger P’s in there that will kill the little fellow...

Have you had them before? You may find it hard to manage the water quality in the 5g with the little p’s eating...

I totally agree with dr exum dr exum if the 55 gallon is cycled and there are no fish that will harm the little RBP or it can't harm anything put the piranha in the 55 gallon. Don't overfeed and stick with a consistent aquarium maintenance schedule. You should notice good steady growth.

the one thing is, it would get eaten by my senegal bichir which i am getting rid of soon. the bichir is in the 55, and when he goes out, i will put the p' in. any recommendations for the mean time? how fast will the piranha grow? thanks
edit: he also is captive

Tbh know one can give you a time of fast the Piranha will grow too many variables.

In my experience RBP grow roughly 1" a month first 6 months, then slow down a tiny bit, with good water quality. I've had a few but this was years ago and it's what I can recall. Might be a little slower.
