I was wondering if someone can tell me the growth of a piranha throughout its life. From about birth to a few years old. Just give me the average growth. Thanks :)

depends on speices,

pygo's all grow about the same,
about 1" per month while small- red's, caribe, piraya.

almost all serra's grow very slowly, some only 1"-2" a year.

it's about 1 inche per month til around 5-6 inches, it then slows down and they'll get to 8-9 inches at age of 1 to 1 and a half years old. with time, if properly taken care of, they'll possibly get an inch or two more over the years.

it depends a little on the space they have, water quality, feeding, etc.

maybe given to other perimiters, others have experienced different grow rates, but i think this is the general growing speed

yup, everything depends on tank size, the diet your feeding him, water quality, stress etc... good diet is stuff like raw shrimp, white fish fillets, talpia (sp) etc... stay away from feeders, if your going to feed live do something like a danios, and make sure to quarentine them aswell

well i have had my RBP for 11 months, and i got 4 of them when they were about the size of quarters, now my smallest one is about 7" and my biggest one is about 8.5". by now mine have lost most of thier "red" color. and are still scared when i walk up to the tank.
my P's main diet is shrimp and talipia filets.
and i stopped feeding feeders after i had a lil incodent with pop eye. :(

Will the accept Carnivore pellets or flakes designed for carnivores. And if they do does it take long for them to get used to it?

almost never, i have heard of mabey 2 cases where they accepted pellets. you'll need to feed them a fishy diet, with things such as smelt, tilapia, and shrimp, i'd stay clear of feeders though.

i started mine with pellets when they were young n they went crazy everytime. with time, started to mix my feedings (live feeders, filets, shrimps, pellets) but i forgot to give them pellets for 2 months n they never ate it again.

at the petshop, the guy told me he gave only pellets to one of his p tank n they were still eating it (bout 4 inches). he said it is the first tank he can do that since he had them young n only gave them pellets.

my personnal guess is that if u start them young enough: yes, but if u stop a while, n make them taste real fish, they wont accept pellets again.

no pro opinion here...
