Hi, Hope someone can help. I had four red belly Piranhas, got them when they were roughy 3 months old, and have had them for 8 months. They seemed to be getting alone very well, no problems at all, till nearly 2 weeks ago, when i came home to find that 3 of them had attacked one and killed him. Then i noticed that two of them were trying to have a go at the other one. So i made the decsion to remove him from the tank and put him in a tank of his own. He seemed fine for the 1st few days, but now will not eat, stays at the bottom of the tank, and just doesnt seem interested in anything. Ive black out the back and one side of the tank, i have had the water tested, and have even filled his tank with 3/4 with water from the shared tank. Im at a loss as what to do now. Can anyone help please.
Thank you Lucyx

so you had them since they were 3 months old and had them for 8 months and they are all around 4"??? something is wrong and they are stunted, at 11 months old they should be at least 6" if not bigger, if they are indeed red belly piranhas (pygocentrus nattereri)
35 littler (~9 gallon) tank is way too small for a piranha, did you use cycled filter on that tank? what are the water parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate) in that hospital tank?
what size is the tank you originally kept them in?
other issues aside, it's probably still stressed from the move and being put into a such small tank, make sure you keep water parameters in check, and add some established bio media into the filter if it's not cycled already. see if you can move it to a bigger tank.
