I have 5 piranhas left in a 55g tank cichlid station sold them 2 me as Red bellys but I learned very quickly they werent. Please Identify I think they are gold spilos because the way the top fin is very high (when not nipped) and also there eyes are starting to turn red now that they are about 4.5-5.5 inches maybe more.

Also I have another question I research alot on the internet about piranhas (I had a red belly once) and they say the way u can tell male and females is sometimes differences in color patterns and the back fin that ussually turns red on red bellys will be different fropm male to female and lately in the last month the biggest piranha in the tank (I think its a she) and one of the medium sized ones (that I think is the only male of 5) are chilling with each other and the one i think is a male has gotten very aggressive when eating the biggest one in the tank that i think is a female seems to be letting the male take the dominate role in the tank also the (male) has deeper color and more color over his body

are you adding a pic for identification? i don't care what anyone says (bruner), the average avid piranha keeper can't tell the males from the females just by looking at them. Even experts who do research on them say they can't tell. When someone says they can, they're usually taking a guess based on girth and not somethin rock solid and foolproof
