Piranha in UK

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
im thinking red bellies, i'd idealy want 3-5 fish but want them small to start with..

im in devon, southwest

any other species that would be worth considering?

thanks guys..

If you get Reds in the UK you are 90% sure of getting captive bred ones which will be skittish and not much fun to keep.

Also, reds generally loose all their red colouration after 7"/8" and go a silver grey colour.

I dont think there are too many places in the South West to be honest.

Try contacting Carl from www.bananas-about-piranhas.com as he is getting wild reds in soon and can courier them to you. I supply his Piranha so just say Nick sent you.

will wild caught mean they are bigger than im aiming to get ? (want about 2 inch ones)

No, wild caught come in from 1" long depending on the time of year. You can order what you like but what we collect is always a different story but try to get as close as we can.

Ordering wild caught Piranha from South America isnt really like going to Tesco and buying a small, medium or large chicken, but we give our collectors the information and they do their best.

Good luck in getting your Piranha.
