Piranhas are fun to keep, but if you want an aggressive and active fish then I would look elsewhere. Most piranha are are shy and skittish. And most people are let down because piranhas aren't blood thirsty killers.

That being said they are cool fish and there are a lot of different species that you can keep. What size tank do you have?

Exactly what welsher said, I currently have 4 red bellies and I feed mine Hikari bio gold pellets

I would get a single black. I've had reds, they are pretty boring.

I have a lot of empty tanks I was thinking of uusin my 125 or 180

In a 180 I would do an elongatus! Watch your fingers.

Those tank sizes are good for decent size group of pygos 6-8 rbps or 6 cariba. Or a single large rhom.

I would choose a group of cariba, they are the best looking pygo in my opinion.

If you're talking about gallons, a 180 gallon for a single elongatus would be a waste of space. Go with a shoal for that size.
