A member on P-fury found out a permit is NOT required to own a piranha in Colorado. It is legal to own them in Colorado, as for city ordinances you'll have to check that yourself. He called ump-teen places & finally came up with a phone # & a name for anyone wanting to double check for themselves. Maybe a mod or jp could link the name & # or I can copy here if anyones interested. Also mods could add Ottumwa iowa to the des moines banning list. Its legal to own piranha in iowa but not in these two cities(maybe more idk).

Yep, Colorado law is written in a somewhat confusing manner. Many think that Piranha and Gars are illegal in Colorado, but, in fact, they are legal.

when i lived there i had like 16 red bellys an i herd different thing from different ppl i think each city has there own laws about owning them but ppl told me that the law wasnt really inforced there

a guy told me that only stores were not allowed to sell them but ppl were ok to sell them but i bought some golds at a store an the guy had few different kinds out in front an he had about 60-70 piranhas in his store all the time an he had alligator gars
