Piranha line of command

I'm assuming you mean in the wild, as mileage will very when placing them into an aquarium (size, number of p's, males/females, etc). From a simple Google search, I found this:

"The species is popularly believed to be a dangerous pack-hunting fish. However, a recent investigation of the red-bellied piranha found no support for cooperative hunting and suggested that an important function of shoaling behaviour in the species is defence against predation. This assertion is supported by the observation that, in the flooded forests of the Brazilian Amazon in which we work, piranhas are regularly predated by river dolphins, caiman, aquatic birds and large piscivorous fishes."

They are like a skiddish pack of vicious puppies that are hungry! As they get older together a pecking order is established but when babies or youngsters they are unpredictable when it comes to "leader stability," as some will die from cannibalism but usually the bigger guy is the boss! And when older they tend to pick a spot and shoal, usually when a stray fish comes near they chase them away!

And after a year + they are sexually mature and begin to pair up given decent conditions and space but even that doesn't guarantee a match!

Here's how my pack lines up, keep in mind during feeding its a chain reaction and they all go in for the kill, like some symphony of bloodthirsty programmed robotic razors! View attachment 993814

They are often bought for their insane theatrical reputation of stripping people to bones thus leading to a lack of knowledge/research, most times equating someone wanting to feed them rats, mice, bunnies, hamsters, fish and other live animals to show all their buddies! But if you want healthy, beautiful and thriving piranhas a good keeper tends to feed things like: fish fillet, pellets, cubes, worms, flakes and other healthy options, they also realize water quality plays a huge role in long term health!

Sent from my iPhone using MonsterAquariaNetwork app

Its a regular 125gal 6'wide by 18"deep by 24"tall. Old school with thick glass. The pack consist of 6 but only 5 of them grew up together, I just recently added one I believe to be a female to make it 6. I do have small fry but my guppies breed and I can't tell for a little bit until they take shape, usually I'm disappointed but hopefully soon. At night 1 has been digging so lets hope!
