Hey my RBP is abt 4" and has a decent coloration going, but when ever i turn off the room lights he looses all the color and becomes white and after i turn on the lights he regains it in abt 30 min..

Is this Normal?? does it happen with anyone of ur fish?

yep, their color fades at night, it's nothing to worry about.

didn't you ask this on Y! like 10 minutes ago?

Yes it's very normal for piranha to change color..They also change color very often as well. Here is a list of possible of changing color.

mood
diet
water quality
temp
light
substrats
sick
injury
breeding sign
stress

all these are a good sign of changing color.

since it's only in the mornings when the lights go on, i really think it's just that. you say they come back in 30? that's the only thing i can think of...

i am a new owner of two 3 inch rbp. i have never owned rbp before but i have done my research on owning them. they seem to be losing their redness underneath. the water levels are fine plenty of cover for them and i dimmed the lights in the tank to reduce stress. their diet has been a couple of feeder fish( which i am trying to ween them off of) and blood worms. i was looking to add maybe three more but i don't want to do anything until i solve this problem.
