greetings all,
I am just wandering how fast can piranha grow?
I used to have 5" red belly,
how fast can they grow?until they reach at least 9" ?
by the way, do they grow faster in a pond rather than in an aquarium?

cheers

Red bellies could take a while to grow from 5" to 9" I would say at least another year or so depending on tank size, diet, water changes, etc. rbp's slow down drastically around the 5" mark. They generally will grow faster in a larger area so if the pond is bigger yes they may grow a little quicker.

if you had a 5 inch redbelly id say more like 2 years before it was 9 inches. and a pond would be very good for growth. if you can grow em out in a pond then move them to your tank.

as the way i see it the water temp and and food you feed them with cause for me i have some gold and when i bought them they were all skinny and crap but i feed them gold fish and beef and they grew like 2 inch a month. they are about 4 to 5 inch now
