Piranhas and SA/CA's

Is it possible for them to share an aquarium? I've read mixed things on the subject.

Every video or pic I've seen of a mixed tank has tattered stressed looking cichlids and that looks like crap...and eventually the tattered looking cichlid will get chomped. No bueno.

That's the issue, they wouldn't get the chance. And large adult cichlid with young piranha will result in one of two things
1.they eat or kill the baby piranha( depend on species)
2.the babies piranha shred the heck out the adult cichlids fins and start removing chunks of flesh till they kill it
Like stated unless you have a huge public sized aquarium piranha are gonna need to be kept with their own kind
