There's a sticky thread on P legality. However, here's the Prohibited Species list for FL:

FLORIDA - Prohibited Fishes and Aquatic Fauna

To protect and conserve Florida's natural aquatic resources and help ensure public safety, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) prohibits (see list above) or restricts (see Restricted fishes) certain non-native fishes and aquatic fauna. Moreover, no person shall allow or permit any freshwater aquatic organism not native to the state to remain in the waters of any pond which is not maintained or operated for the production of such non-native species.

The FWC uses well-defined criteria to determine where a species should appear on the list. The most current list is available by checking the statutes (See 68A-23.008). Species that were included on the list as of July 2003 are described on this page. In general, prohibited non-native aquatic species, listed in red in the link box above, may not be imported, sold, possessed or transported in Florida. Very limited exceptions are made by permit for viewing at large public aquaria or for research, provided Commission-approved maximum security requirements are met. No exceptions are made for certain prohibited species, such as piranha. Research permits for prohibited aquatic species are also very stringent.

Legally? No.

Hey thanks fellaz, for da info, ok, i so want them redbellys , do they sell them in like tennesse, ky,indiana? And where could I travel to gettm, and also how much would one redbelly bout 4 inches run me?
Anda Guppy, what happen to ya eye bro, it looks nasty!

there arent many legal places in the south because the feel that if released piranhas could survive in the warmer waters down there.....which i dont feel i mostly true seeing as they need a steady warm temp...mine are very touchy when it comes to temp i keep my tanks around 80 degrees and they loved it but if a waterchange or something dropped it down one degree they get very cranky......but if you can get ahold of them piranhas are very hardy and extremely good healers.....so if u bought a shoal i would suggest 3 or more depending on tank size 55g atleast for 3 rbps

Yea bro, Id <3 2 have like 5 ofem i gotta 150 gallon that now houses an 15" Aro and a very kool Florida Stingray (8") that feeds from my hand (and my kids hands) , and he is very hardy eater... I love watchin him hover over an Goldfish and droop hes wings over them as he traps them and sukz them up like a vacuum cleaner!
So if ya have any cules as to how much the red bellys are a peice (small ones) and where i could get them would be nice! But I cant have them here so ima gueesin ima waistin ma time!
