I noticed something, there aren't enough pictures of piranhas being active. Soooo......

If you have them, please post some pictures of your piranhas in action, swimming around, enjoying their tank, trying to catch a meal (be it pellets of feeders), or just playing with their buddies (for you shoal owners).

{Please try to keep guts and gore to a minimum with feeder pictures.}

Here's mine to start it off. This is Whiplash, hunting a piece of freeze-dried gammarus.

There are many ways to keep your piranha active (in action)

~ High temp make piranha very active and aggressive. 78f-82f
~ good water quality ( plenty of water change and vacuum the gravel)
~ Depending on what size is your piranha keep them well fed
~ The bigger tank the better for them, piranha love to swim around with high temp. min of 30gallon per fish to grow fast and healthy (with well taken care of)

i belive she wants pics of piranhas active, not how to get them active?

nice pic sushi :headbang2

Yea but how can you judge piranha is active or not by pictures?

if the piranha looks like it is doing something then post it. it's not that complicated.

i'll see if i can get a good one! ;)

Thanks for the comments guys!! He's my baby!! ^_^

That's exactly what I meant, Pevine. I want pics of piranhas on the move, doing something.

All those pics of them sitting still are gorgeus, but it doesn't show the grace and power of this often misunderstood fish!! ^_^

Wow, I just saw your sig. That's a pic of a RBP? I don't think I've ever seen such nice colors on one of those- where'd ya get him and what do ya feed him?!

I bought him at our local Pet supplies plus, he was the last one they sold!!

I feed him cichlid pellets, freeze-dried gammarus (baby shrimp), and white fish meat(if he wants it). No feeders, no red meat.

Fish are piscevores, meaning that they eat fish. Red meat is way too fatty for them since their body doesn't always reach a hig enough temperature to digest the fat off of it. It's like sitting down with a bucket of crisco....not very healthy for ya.

I also put blackwater in his tank, and I keep his water as clean as possible for his health.

I love my fish, and I want him to live as long as possible, so I take care of him the best I can. And I'm repaid with his activity, and his gorgeous color, and a fish I'm all too happy to show off!! ^_^

*edit* I forgot to mention that he occasionally gets carrots, and he decided to take a chunk out of an algae disc that was meant for the snail yesterday!! A varied diet is the key to a healthy fish!!
